Here's a song called Turtle Soup 2, from the soundtrack to Hal Hartley's The Book of Life.
As far as I know that's the only record the song appears on.
The melody in the beginning quickly disappears but I always keep hearing it the whole song long, which is a neat trick. Or it's mental illness. Or both. Which would be another neat trick.

The Scientists - Swampland
the scientists were a very underrated garage/post-punk band from australia. they had a lot of good songs but this is one of my favorites - fans of the gun club check it out
What people do when it's almost weekend
People always go "ooh!" and "yay!" when it's almost weekend, so let's do that.
I didn't like The Darjeeling Express that much but I did like hearing The Kinks' Powerman again. So let's start the weekend by hearing Powerman again and perhaps go "ooh!" and even "yay!".

Bob Crosby And The Bobcats - Way Back Home
Here's a lovely old song by Bing's brother Bob (no, really), recently used in the apocalyptastic game Fallout 3.
For those not in the know, Fallout 3 introduces you to a post-apocalyptic version of Washington D.C. including irradiated wastes and similarly irradiated mutants. Your character is born inside a so-called vault, a bunkerlike complex designed to save limited groups of people (or so they are told, at least). Anyway, your character is forced to leave his vault and it can be thoroughly depressing (in a good way, mind you) trudging through this destroyed world but you have the choice to switch on your radio and listen to a selection of golden oldies.
And I won't lie to you, when this song came around, it had quite the effect on me - especially when listening to the lyrics.
Right. That'll do.

No Trend
No Trend have destroyed America.
it's already happened. did you miss it?
you did. you missed the entire thing.
on the real shortlist of The Greatest Punk Rock Bands Of All Time, you will find a few surprises. first of all, the sex pistols are not on it at all and neither are the clash. even though they were famous. are you still with me? keep breathing.
one of the bands you will find on it, however, are No Trend, who singlehandedly declined the western civilization and received all the fanfare of a fart in private. it does not get better than this. this is what punk is all about. this is the absolute apex of the genre. why the FUCK haven't you heard of No Trend yet? listen to the sound of ronald reagan's bones rolling over.
