Gloomy Sunday
this song has been done countless times by many different artists over the years. here are a few renditions, including the original. with help from this last.fm group: http://www.last.fm/group/Gloomy+Sunday/forum/107619/_/467213
i don't include the Billie Holiday version because everyone has heard it already. also, adding the apologetic "it was only a dream" verse is a disgrace and makes my skin crawl. whoever's idea that was, that was awful.
Rezső Seress - Szomorú Vasárnap (1933)
Paul Whiteman with Johnny Hauser - Gloomy Sunday (1936)
Zvonko Bogdan - Tuzna je nedelja (unknown year)
Genesis - Gloomy Sunday (1968)
Lydia Lunch - Gloomy Sunday (1979)
Stonehenge - Gloomy Sunday (unknown year, from WFMU Incorrect Music comp)
Diamanda Galás - Gloomy Sunday (1992)
Venetian Snares - Öngyilkos Vasárnap (2005)

GG Allin & The Murder Junkies - Die When You Die
pretty sure this is my favorite GG Allin song.
"I talked to my bitch / Cause she was a guy / Talked to my man and she said you're gonna die"

Big Business - Focus Pocus
oh, how i miss 2004. the Melvins released Pigs of the Roman Empire and Big Business put out their opus album Head For The Shallow. i know how great the idea of the two bands joining together looked on paper but ultimately, the two bands were better apart.
don't you remember? you used to do stuff like this:
